Information for when booking
Additional driver
The person named on the reservation booking must be the main driver, present at time of rental and payer of any rental charges. Renter not driving is not allowed.
The first additional driver is free. A second additional driver is possible with a fee of EUR 3.00 plus tax per day (max. EUR 30.00 plus tax per rental) for each additional driver. Additional drivers must present a valid Driving Licence and their Passport.
Age restrictions and exceptions
All drivers must be aged a minimum of 23 years old.
Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)
Your rental agreement includes Collision Damage Waiver, so your liability for loss of or damage to the vehicle, its parts or accessories other than caused by theft, attempted theft or vandalism is limited, for each such incidence of loss or damage arising from a separate event, to the amount of the excess stated on the Rental Record - currently EUR 400.00 - provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.
You can further eliminate your excess liability - Please refer to "Super Cover" for additional information.
If you choose to rely on your credit card for cover, we strongly recommend that you fully understand the terms and conditions of any cover provided by your credit card company before you decline any of our optional services.
Driver's licence
All drivers (including any additional drivers) must present a full and valid driving licence at the start of the rental, which they have held for a minimum of one year. UK drivers must present both parts of their licence, photocard and paper licence. For all Non-European Union renters, it is highly recommended your national driver's licence be accompanied by an International Driving Permit (IDP). In the case of driver's licences issued by the People's Republic of China, this must be accompanied by a notarized translation instead of an IDP. An IDP translates the national licence into various languages and is on its own, without the national licence, not acceptable. If a licence issued outside the European Union cannot be read or understood, then it is not acceptable, unless accompanied by a translation from the official source, e. g. embassy headed paper. This includes licences which are only partly translated, Japanese and all Arabic licences etc.
Entertainment equipment
Simply Wheelz does not currently rent in-car entertainment equipment
Forms of payment
Methods of payment accepted are limited to major credit cards.
A credit card in the main driver's name is required for booking the vehicle. However, you may opt to pay by other means at termination of rental, subject to specific terms and conditions being met.
At the time of rental an authorisation is obtained on your credit card based on the estimated rental charges. There must be sufficient credit on your card to cover all charges.
Credit cards:
Acceptable credit cards are: Air Travel Card, American Express / Optima, Diners Club, Japanese Credit Bureau, Lufthansa, Mastercard, Eurocard, Vector, Visa / Mileage Plus First Card.
Debit & Visa Electron: debit cards and cards which carry the Electron logo or the words "Electronic Use Only" are not accepted.
Location Service Charge (LSC)
Location Service Charge does not apply to Simply Wheelz rentals.
Luggage racks
Simply Wheelz does not offer luggage racks.
Navigation systems (GPS)
Portable satellite navigation systems can be rented along with your hire car. Charges (shown exclusive of tax) are as follows:
- Malaga: EUR 3.50 per day (max. charge is EUR 17.50 per week)
- Alicante: EUR 4.50 per day (max. charge EUR 22.50 per week)
Loss or damage to GPS equipment is not covered by Collision Damage Waiver, Theft Protection, Super Cover or any other Simply Wheelz coverage or insurance.
One way rentals
One-way rentals are those whereby you start the rental in one location and return the vehicle to another. This option is not available with Simply Wheelz rentals. For any driving restrictions within or outside Spain, please refer to "Driving Restrictions" in the location index.
Out of hours pick-up / return
Simply Wheelz offices have limited opening hours to help keep our costs as low as you want them to be. Vehicles may only be picked up and dropped off during normal opening hours of the location concerned.
We cannot be held responsible for flight or other travel delays. If you are likely to arrive earlier or later in the day of pickup than booked, please contact the location and we will try to help you as much as we can.
If you simply turn up before we have opened or after we have closed we won't be there.
If you return the vehicle outside of these hours you must comply with the out of hours return instructions for that location, in which case you will remain fully responsible for the vehicle until the location re-opens for business. If you fail to comply with these instructions, you will remain responsible for the vehicle until we are able to access it.
Passport information
A valid national identity card or a passport must be presented at the rental counter at time of pickup as proof of identity. Non EU nationals will need to present a valid passport (in Roman script) as proof of identity.
Personal Insurance (PI)
Personal Accident Insurance / Personal Effects Coverage can be purchased at a charge of EUR 1.50 plus tax per day. This option covers the authorised drivers and the passengers.

Personal Accident
Indemnities to driver and passengers, according to the limits and circumstances shown below, as a direct result of an accident whilst in the Simply Wheelz vehicle:

The maximum amount payable under this section is EUR 20,000.00 per person and accident. For children aged 15 or less and/or persons aged 65 or over, all the above indemnities are limited to EUR 7,000.00; for children aged 15 or less the death indemnity is limited to EUR 3,000.00.
Medical and Emergency Expenses
Coverage to driver and passengers, according to the limits and circumstances shown below, necessarily incurring and arising directly from an accident in which the Simply Wheelz vehicle is involved.
Medical expenses include the cost of medical surgical or other remedial treatment given or prescribed by a registered medical practitioner or registered hospital.

Additional Hospital Benefit.
If the driver and passengers need to spend time in a registered hospital as in-patient, as a direct result of an accident in which the Simply Wheelz vehicle is involved, additional benefit will be provided for out-of pocket expenses, according to limits and circumstances shown below

GENERAL EXCLUSIONS FOR THESE THREE SECTIONS OF THE POLICY
- -Self-inflicted injury, suicide or attempted suicide or criminal action.
- -Pre-existing illness or medical condition.
- -Violation of the Terms and Conditions of the Rental Agreement.
As with any insurance policy, there are exclusions which affect the cover provided. Full details of the cover and conditions are available from each rental agency.
Refuelling
Simply Wheelz vehicles are delivered with a full tank of fuel and a corresponding fuel charge will be made at the time of pick up (approx. EUR 55-85, depending on model and local price of fuel at time of hire). The vehicle should be returned empty (there will be no refund for unused fuel when the vehicle is returned at the end of the rental).
Safety seats (infant, child, and booster)
Child Seats are mandatory in Spain for children up to 3 years.
Simply Wheelz offers safety seats for children from birth to 7 years of age (up to 150 cm) and for all vehicle groups from the Simply Wheelz locations on the Spanish mainland with a minimum of 24 hours advance notice.

Ski Equipment
Sorry, Simply Wheelz does not offer Ski Equipment for vehicles.
Super Cover (SC)
If you opted for, or if your rate includes Collision Damage Waiver and Theft Protection, you may also wish to purchase an additional protection, "Super Cover", to waive your already limited liability in case of damage to, or theft of the Simply Wheelz vehicle, its parts and accessories, including those losses resulting from collision, vandalism, theft or attempted theft, provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. Super Cover does not cover broken /loss of keys, contamination of fuel or navigation system units.
Super Cover can only be purchased at time of pick-up at a charge of EUR 4.00 plus tax per day (maximum charge of EUR 132.00 plus tax per rental).
If you accept the optional Super Cover by paying the daily charge specified, your liability for the excess in relation to CDW and/or TP will be eliminated.
Taxes
All rates are subject to a Government tax (VAT) at the rate of 16%.
Theft protection (TP)
Your rental agreement includes Theft Protection, so your liability for loss of or damage to the vehicle, its parts or accessories as a result of theft, attempted theft or vandalism is limited to the non-waivable excess stated on the Rental Record - currently EUR 400.00 - provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.
You can further eliminate your excess liability - Please refer to "Super Cover" for additional information.
If you choose to rely on your credit card, we strongly recommend that you fully understand the terms and conditions of any cover provided by your credit card company before you decline any of our optional services.
Third party liability
Basic insurance includes at no additional charge unlimited cover against bodily injury to third party and property damage to anything other than the rented vehicle.
Information for your rental
Changes to reservations
- Simply Wheelz will allow customers to make changes to a reservation through the online 'Modify/Cancel' reservation page
- No modification administration fee will be made for changes made online.
- No changes can be made less than four hours before the pick up time. Please refer to 'Changes at Time of Pick Up'.
- Any change to a booking made online will be recalculated based on the availability and prices at the time the change is made. This may be greater or lesser than the price originally booked. This applies to changes made to:
- a. Drop off location
- b. Pick up date and time
- c. Drop off time and date
- d. Car group
- e. Airline and flight number
- f. Child seats
- g. All other additional products
- The lead customer name and the pick-up location on a reservation cannot be changed. If a customer wishes to change the lead name or the pick-up location, then they must cancel the reservation (see terms and conditions for Cancellations) and make a new reservation.
- The customer will be asked to enter a valid credit card number at the end of a change to a prepaid reservation. This MUST be the same credit card that was used for the original reservation. If the customer wishes to change the credit card, then the original reservation must be cancelled (see terms and conditions for Cancellations) and a new reservation made.
- If no cars are available for the location and date requested, then the customer will see the message: 'No cars available at this location for this date or duration'. The customer should try to change the dates or location for pick up
- If no prepaid rates are available for the location, date or other requests made, the customer will see the message: 'No prepaid rate available'. If the customer sees this message, they may cancel the original reservation (see terms and conditions for Cancellations) and make a new reservation
- CDP: a CDP code can be added to a reservation. However, there may be circumstances in which this CDP code is linked to a negotiated discount or rate that does not match Simply Wheelz retail prepaid rates. In this circumstance, the customer will see the error message: 'No prepaid rate available'. The customer may cancel the original reservation (see terms and conditions for Cancellations) and make a new reservation adding the CDP number.
Cancellations
- Simply Wheelz will allow customers to cancel a prepaid reservation through the online 'Modify/Cancel' reservation page
- A full refund of the prepaid reservation will be made:
- a. If the cancellation is made within 7 days of the original booking time;
- b. Less an administrative fee of EUR 45.00, GBP 30.00, CHF 65.00, SEK 300.00, NOK 300.00 if the cancellation is made after 7 days of the original booking time.
- Refunds will be made to the credit card that the original booking was made on.
Changes at time of pick up
If at the time of vehicle collection you wish to rent a larger car or rent for a longer period, you may do so, subject to availability, on payment of additional charges. Such charges will be quoted in the currency of the renting country and may be at a higher rate than those previously quoted.
No shows/Lost rentals
- If you fail to cancel your reservation prior to the Pick Up Time and do not collect the vehicle on the Pick Up Date, or if you fail to comply with the pick up terms (refer Rental Qualifications & Requirements), we reserve the right to make a No Show/Lost Rental Charge of EUR 95.00, GBP 70.00, CHF 140.00, SEK 750.00, NOK 750.00, which recovers our administration costs and compensates us for our inability to rent the vehicle when it was reserved for your use.
- We will refund your pre-payment, less the No Show/Lost Rental Charge, if you write to us within 90 days of the Pick Up Date at:- Simply Wheelz by Simply Wheelz Prepaid Accounting Department, Hertz Europe Service Centre, Swords Business Park, Swords, Co. Dublin, Ireland requesting repayment and enclosing a copy of your Reservation Confirmation.
Driving restrictions
Who may drive the vehicle - The vehicle must only be driven by the named driver or any other person who has first been authorised by us and added to the Rental Record and you agree that you will not allow anyone to drive the vehicle, including yourself: who does not fulfil our minimum requirements reGarding age and possession of a valid driving licence as indicated for the relevant rate or otherwise notified by us; or who is over-tired or under the influence of alcohol, drugs, medication or any other legal or illegal substance impairing their consciousness or ability to react.
Cross-border travel - You may only drive your vehicle in mainland Spain and Gibraltar.
Ferries - You are not allowed to take the vehicle onto any ferries.
Should these restrictions be ignored all insurance (Third Party Liability, CDW, TP, PAI, Super Cover), if accepted, shall be deemed, null and void. The driver will be held fully responsible in case of accidents and will bear all consequences, including the cost of repatriation of the damaged vehicle.
Grace period
Simply Wheelz customers are required to return their vehicle at the time reserved, or earlier. If you return your vehicle later than agreed, you will be liable to charges - see "returning your vehicle"
Invoice
If you require an invoice for your rental please request at time of drop off.
Returning the Vehicle
At the end of the rental you must return the vehicle to the location to which you've rented it.
Early return - Please note that we are unable to give a refund if you return the vehicle early
Late return - If you return the car later than the agreed time of check in, there will be a late return charge of twice the daily rate. This is because late returns will prevent us from providing the vehicle to other customers who have reserved it for that date and will result in a Simply Wheelz having to compensate those customers.
Shuttle bus
As soon as you arrive at the Airport, please call the rental location in order to have the shuttle bus service ready at the courtesy shuttle bus parking space outside the terminal building. The shuttle bus will bring you to the Simply Wheelz off airport location.
Traffic fines
You are fully responsible for all road tolls and any fines or other consequences of the violation of traffic regulations (including congestion charges), parking orders or prohibitions, or any other laws or regulations during the rental. If we are required to pay and/ or process such road tolls, fines, charges or associated costs, you agree that we may charge you with the amount we are required to pay plus a reasonable administration charge for dealing with these matters. We shall, upon request, supply you with a copy of any traffic violation notice which we receive.
